VelvetMove

How it works

Three conversations, then a quiet move.

Most of the work of a good move happens before the truck arrives. The white-glove movers we match you with plan in writing, then execute against the plan. What follows is what to expect, step by step.

  1. 01

    Consultation

An in-home or virtual walk-through with the mover we match you with. They document scope, sensitive items, building access on both ends, timing constraints, and the standards you expect them to meet. No boilerplate questionnaire — only the questions the move requires.

    Detail

Typical visit: 60–90 minutes. We bring measuring tools, a tablet for inventory photography, and time.

  2. 02

    The written plan

Your mover delivers a written move plan: an itemized crating list, crew assignments, vehicle plan, climate-control specifications, building coordination notes on both ends, and contingency days. You review and sign it before a date is committed.

    Detail

What you receive: inventory, crate list, crew roster, vehicle assignments, building windows, contingency.

  3. 03

    Pack and crate

Your dedicated crew arrives in the morning. Crates are built on-site for artwork, antiques, mirrors, and instruments. Wardrobes travel hung. Books travel boxed by shelf. Inventory is photographed as it goes into the truck.

    Detail

Typical pack: 1–2 days for a full home. Crews work in pairs, with the lead specialist on site throughout.

  4. 04

    Transit

Your shipment travels in a dedicated trailer. No shared loads. No transfers. Climate-controlled compartments for wood, paper, leather, instruments, and wine. The specialist who packed your home knows where the truck is, end to end.

    Detail

    Most coast-to-coast transits: 4–5 days. Most long-distance one-stop transits: 1–3 days.

  5. 05

    Placement

Unpack-to-shelf at the destination. Art on the wall, rugs laid, beds made, china in cabinets. Crating waste removed the same day. You sleep in the new home the night the truck arrives.

    Detail

Final placement is included. Hourly add-ons for organizing or design coordination are available on request.
